Farming Debut

Well I am finally over being sick and feeling the need to blog again. I wanted to share my farming debut with you. It will make you laugh when you view the video clips. Who knew I would be driving a tractor one day! It was fun and Dan was proud of me. Hopefully next time I get off the tractor I won't be standing in an ant mound and get bites all over my feet!!!

My New Ride

Well it was bittersweet experience....trading in my mustang and upgrading to an SUV. I loved my mustang for seven years. It was great and I'm gonna miss it! So I kept the same blue color now I get to have people in the car b/c they will actually fit. My new ride drives real smooth and has such nice features. I feel very blessed....

It's Official!

Although I have been an aunt (for the first time) since December 2007, today I am an official aunt in the eyes of the law in Oklahoma. My parents drove to Oklahoma last night to be at court this morning for the last adoption hearing for Tristan and Allison. I wish I could have been there. My sister in law Jerelyn testified that they wanted to girls and that she and Charles would be there parents. The girls names were legally changed. My nine year old niece is Tristan Deborah Atchison and my six year old niece is Allison Rose Atchison. My mom said my brother cried at the end of the hearing while sitting with the girls. I am so proud to be an aunt, and I'm proud of my brother and sister in law and what they've done and given to be parents to such sweet girls who had a hard start in life. We could not ask for more supportive parents. I can only pray that all the children out there could be fortunate enough to find a couple to welcome them into a loving family and show them what it is like to be loved. I wish I had had more time with the girls before I moved away, but I guess that was not in God's plan. I pray to be the best long distance aunt ever. Meet my sweet nieces...welcome to the family girls and welcome home.

When husbands get sick and dogs get needy...

I have officially had the experience of having to take off work to take care of someone else besides myself. Dan came home sick Thursday with a 103 temperature. I slept in the guest room to avoid any contact of germs. I got up every two hours to check his fever, which was anywhere from 101-103 all night. Then Friday I got up and got dressed, went to work to get stuff together, and get a sub. Dan needed me to drive him to the doctor. The doctor couldn't see him so off to the ER we went. They ended up giving him an IV to get fluids back in him. He was pretty empty. He slept most of the day. Today he felt better and his fever is finally got, but he is still weak. It will be a few more days until he is back to normal. And to top it off.....Junior (the dog) can't stand that Dan is in the house and not giving him attention! He is so sad and I guess I just can't replace Dan or the truck or the farm....

Nite!

Thanks mom and dad

My parents sent me some beautiful flowers this week to wish me luck this year. I appreciate it always and it is always nice to get flowers. The teachers were jealous that my "newlywed" husband was sending me flowers and then I had to break the news that it was from my mom and dad! :-)

Here I go Again!

Meet my fourth grade homeroom kids.

It's my sixth year of teaching elementary school and it doesn't matter because the first days of school are always hectic, overwhelming, and exhausting. Besides the fact that I am teaching a new grade, I have to learn the Georgia's state standards/expectations for students and learn a whole new school system at the campus I'm at. Overall things will be great in about a month when I finally have time to plan ahead and get to know things better, but right now the stress is high. I'm very lucky though to have a key to my outside door so I can go to my classroom on the weekends or in the evenings if necessary. Anyway, the kids here are very sweet and friendly. Very southern kids! I caught myself today starting to use the same twang as they do. I guess it's just a matter of time before I do and then I'll really hear it from the people in Texas. I wanted to post some pictures of what my day looks like now and the kiddos I'll be around for the next 178 school days. Then I have to work on grouping kids tonight in order to have it all together before Monday morning. :-)

Ginger is a blogger!

Yes, I created a blog! Wow...I guess I don't have much to do. :-) I have decided to start blogging because I thought it would be a great way to keep family and friends back home in Texas updated on my life. I know the majority of those I love will never be able to come to Georgia (or refuse) to see my new world, so maybe this is the next best thing. I'm sure my new journey in life will be eventful. I hope you enjoy the reading...:-)
